Skiin vacation tips.

Friday, June 11th, 2010

What are your plans for this wintertime holiday It is almost near and by now you should already have a carefully laid out plan so that you can enjoy your vacation to the fullest. If you are looking for excitement, nothing is more fun than taking a skiing vacation with your family, your loved one, or even your friends.

Feel the cold air as it slices over your cheeks while you slide down the slopes of the mountainsides. After that, you can enjoy a nice cup of tea or coffee in your hotel or flat. Some women also love ski vacations because of the handsome and cute instructors. But wait, before you even rush out of your house, you should know what to take with you in your suitcase.

Careful planning is needed before you finally decide to pack your things for vacation. First and foremost, you have to make the necessary reservations. There are various ski resorts packages offered and you can pick out among them. You have to ensure that you choose a vacation package that you can afford so as not to exhaust all your savings. Once you are through with the reservations, you have to call the hotel or the resort and inquire about the place wherever you are going to stay. That way, you will know if you will bring you toiletries and towels with you. Luxurious hotels usually provide for these things and so there is no need to bring any with you when you travel.

Some ski resorts offer individual cabins. You have to know if your cabin is a bit far from the main hotel or lodge. That way, you can bring especial(a) coats aside from your ski suits. If you are staying at the main hotel, you can still bring an extra coat with you; just in case you want to take a walk outside.

What are the attractions that you can find in the resorts? You have to know these things so that you can also prepare some of your personal material. For instance, the resort may offer hot tubs, special events or parties, boxing or yoga lessons, etc. If you are interested with these activities, you must bring appropriate wear or attire.

For those individuals who are taking vitamins or prescription medications, it would be best to take some with you but bring only the exact medicines needed.

First time ski vacationers should bring their favorite mug or pillow just in case they get homesick. Many vacationers feel this way and personal things you bring can give you comfort.

One of the most crucial considerations is food. Does the main hotel have restaurants? Are the foods affordable? What kinds of cuisines are offered? Can you easily grab some snacks if you feel hungry? Does your cabin have a personal kitchen? You must be able to get answers to these questions so that you can also prepare for your food budget.

If you have other questions in your mind, do not hesitate to call your accommodations. They have customer representatives who are willing to answer all your queries. If you prepared for everything, nothing can ruin your skiing vacation. So what are waiting for? Pack your things now and spend a memorable vacation at the ski resorts.

This winter season may be the best skiin vacation that you can have because you are prepared for everything.

4 Stars Rolling garment bag
I was delighted to find this type of bag actually existed. I was concerned this may not last due to not being super expensive but it has survived 4 lots of overseas baggage handling very well. I do find the zippers are a little closely sewn at the center of the bag but I just take it carefully and all is well. It stores a lot, and is light to start so you don’t go overweight too easily. It rolls well also. I am thrilled to have discovered it.

2 Stars Not for the roadwarrior. Cheap components
First of all this is my first review. I feel compelled to leave feedback as it’s so important to me when choosing which product to buy. With the good rating and reviews, I thought I couldn’t go wrong with this bag. It does have a lot of space and it has a nice appearance to it. That’s really all I can say positively.

I’m a traveling salesman and basically live out of suitcase. I like a garment bag because it’s easy to pack and “unpack”. After only 2 weeks of using this bag 2 of the zippers came undone and separated beyond the point of repair. This is usually indicative of cheap zippers. Secondly, on most high quality garment bags the coat hanger hooks are metal with a rubber clamping device. This keeps your hangers from falling when closed up. This bag has cheap plastic hangers that always come undone and always drop your clothes.

Lastly, when hanging from a door or unfolded, closing the bag’s interior compartment required a little wrestling.

All in all, this is a good value for someone that may be using it a couple times a year. If you’re wanting a good quality product that will hold up for many years of use, this is not the product for you.

I hope this helps some of you. On a positive note, Amazon was extremely good about refunding my money. I in-turn bought a replacement bag from Amazon that’s better made.

1 Star JUNK
This piece of luggage has been taken on one trip. It weighed 47 pounds and the wheels bent outward causing the piece to literately drag on the ground as you pulled it.

5 Stars Good Value!
I bought this for our recent trip to NYC. It is a great bag, with plenty of storage and multiple options. I am very pleased with the purchase and would recommend it to anyone.

5 Stars Excellent bag at a bargain price
This is an excellent bag at a bargain price. The seller shipped the item fast. Item arrived in new condition.

2 Stars Undone by flimsy Handle
I was initially quite impressed with this suitcase. A vivid blue, it is easy to spot on the luggage carousel. The spinning wheels are amazing and the suitcase traveled effortlessly through the airport. It is quite light and deceptively compact. It holds a considerable amount of luggage and has convenient pockets.

Unfortunately, I can only give it two stars as the flimsy metal handle broke on its maiden voyage (a flight from Colorado to New York). This was a major inconvenience as the suitcase was fully packed and heavy and I landed at a small airport with minimal amenities (such as carts). This may be a product flaw as I have a larger version which did the exact same thing. However that occurred after two or three years of very heavy use and some extremely rough handling in airports. This is not cheap luggage and I was quite annoyed. So despite a number of positive attributes, I cannot recommend this product.

5 Stars Nice travel suitcase
I need to buy a middle size travel suitcase, and American Tourister comes to my mind due to its good reputation of providing solid luggage. I also wanted a spinner type of luggage so that I can carry it easily during my trip, and the 25″ AT Spinner is the perfect fit for my need.

The item was arrived in good condition and scheduled time frame. The bluecolor I ordered looks nice and will make me easy to find it when I pick it up at the airport. The suitcase build quality seems to be quit nice, but I need to see how good it can sustain the traveling after my next trip.

The price at Amazon is also reasonable, plus I can use my Amazon points to reduce the cost. To spend $65 on a good 25″ spinner is a good deal.

4 Stars Sturdy bag
I have two of these, they have made the trip to Australia and back four times so far. The airline handlers have not managed to destroy them yet. I have been thru many luggage sets and individual bags, expensive, and economical, and these have held up as good or better than the ones I paid more for. I would recommend to anyone who travels much, get the bags with Spinner wheels, I am a 5′2″ woman in her 50s and I can roll in 2 of these with no problem.

4 Stars The American Tourister Spinner – Great Luggage For General Travel Needs

The American Tourister Spinner is a great bag and has become the piece of luggage that I use the most for general travel. For the features and durability offered by this bag, it’s a great product. The 360 degree spinning wheels let you pull this in any direction without having to tip it over. While this is too large to carry on, if you are planning on checking bags anyway this one is almost the perfect size to get most of your key stuff inside for a two week trip.

STORAGE AND FEATURES

The interior has the standard main compartment as well as a mesh cargo area in the lid. The front of the bag has extra storage compartments to allow you to store a few items. There is also a small area to expand the capacity with a zipper, though based upon the size of this bag that is almost always expanded on mine.

The large main storage compartment is really the key to this bag. It is missing some extras like a garment storage feature many more expensive bags have started to add, even to this style of luggage. Still, that’s a trade off I will take for a bigger interior.

The outside is made of a high durability fabric which has held up to me taking it all over. But even though it’s not a hard shell case, it feels very sturdy and has to have some kind of reinforcement. The result is that the shell of the bag is very thin and allows you to use almost the fully capacity of the bag’s internal area for storage.

The only drawback to this bag is that it does tend to tip over when fully loaded. Even though you can’t see it clearly in the picture, the bag is slightly wider at the base than at the top. It’s still not enough to fully load this guy without the risk of it tipping forward, so I tend to leave the front of the bag propped up against the wall when it’s fully loaded.

PROS:

+ Perfect capacity for checked baggage

+ Spinner wheels rotate 360 degrees and let you move the bag in any direction with ease

+ Nice quality fabric is reinforced (I think) for light durability

+ Nice extra storage compartments

+ Large interior storage capacity

+ The metal handle can be extended to short or long lengths

+ The cloth handles are strong enough to lift it even when full

CONS:

- Steep price – this isn’t budget luggage

- Does tip forward when top heavy

- Missing some higher end extras such as “Garment storage”

- When overstuffed, the zipper can stick a little

Conclusion

This is a good durable bag for general travel needs. This will fit a nice amount of stuff so that, hopefully, this will be the only bag you need for trips up to a few weeks. Then again, some people pack more than others. Despite the cloth fabric, this bag has held up well for me and is very durable. Just try to load the heavier items in the base and watch out for it tipping forward.

Enjoy!

Eagle Creek Travel Gear Tarmac 20 Carry On

Eagle Creek’s Exploration Systems Tarmac line is ultra lightweight luggage with sleek design for the crossover businessadventure traveler. For international carry-on use and 1-3 day trips.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars worth the money
My old 20 inch weighed too much, so after a lot of research, I got this one. It really is light – even when full. I am *not* strong, but even packed to overflowing, I was able to put this in the overhead compartment. It easily held enough clothes for a 5 day trip including a rain coat and sweat shirt.

Like all Eagle Creek luggage, packing is a dream – I love the roomy inside the upper flap compartments, the larger one really keeps ironed things from getting all wrinkled. The other thing I learned the hard way – never get wheeled luggage that doesn’t have the wheels at the very ends of the sides. While the old 20″ would always get wobbly (even on flat ground), this one can be taken down steps without problem.

5 Stars Best carry on ever!
I am a “carry-on only” traveler, and I have tried them all. This is the best rolling carry-on I’ve ever owned. This is quality luggage down to the last detail. The retractable handle is sturdy and has a comfortable grip. The wheels are great and roll nicely. One of my favorite features is the support on the bottom which keeps the bag from tipping forward when “parked”. Roomy compartments are very easy to access and have great zippers. Being a 20″ size, it fits easily into overhead bins. I love this bag! If I lost it today, I would purchase another just like it.

5 Stars great carry-on!
I purchased this after much searching for the perfect product. Needed something to carry EVERYTHING for a 10-day trip to China. I did not want to bother with a full-sized suitcase. When I first saw it, I was sure everything would not fit but it did. Yes, I packed light but was still able to fit everything necessary including four pairs of pants, six tops, first aid supplies, toiletries, shoes, and more. Great zippered (netted) compartments kept everything visible and totally organized. Shoes were zipped out of the way of everything else in their own special compartment. The carry-on was unbelievably light weight and rolled very easily. Several handles besides the pull-out made it a breeze to pick up and go as needed. I had to navigate two train stations that had lots of steps. The item was easy to pick up and/or bumped up or down the steps with equal ease — no twisting or turning. It rolled down the airplane aisle with ease and was also easy to pick up and stow in the overhead compartments…no pushing or shoving necessary and I did not fear dropping it on my head (or someone else’s) as I lifted it up. It really is the perfect product. I am delighted with every aspect of this purchase.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Pretty much what I expected
Being entirely made of mesh, these provide excellent air flow and keep clothes from getting stale. They are deeper than others I have used, and I think that is going to be a plus.

4 Stars Packing Cubes
I purchased these for an upcoming trip and they seem perfect for organizing my suitcase since I will be in a different location every 2-3 days. I will be able to organize the cubes by category, or even pack outfits together, and pull them out of the suitcase without emptying everything in each location. This will save a lot of packing and unpacking. I will probably use one of the small ones in my carry on for 2 changes of clothes in case of delayed luggage. I wasn’t sure if they would be big enough, but at 5 inches deep, they seem like they would hold a lot. Other packing cubes that I have seen are not as deep (usually 3-3/12 inches). The price is also reasonable for 3 cubes. You get one large cube 14X11X5 and 2 small cubes 7X11X5. I wasn’t sure what I would get because there is only one dimension listed in the description, and it is hard to figure out the sizes. I could probably pack quite a few pairs of capri pants and shorts in the larger cube, but I don’t think they would be useful for my husband’s pants or any men’s jeans or dress pants. They would be good for shirts, socks, underwear etc… so you don’t have to dig through a suitcase or unpack everything. I think these will be very handy and helpful. Having 2 of the bigger sizes would be a bit more handy, and I would order more than one set for a long trip, especially for men’s clothing.

5 Stars Best Packing Cubes Ever
I’ve ordered my 2nd set but not before trying other brands. I’ve found that the Rick Steves packing cubes are just a little bit bigger and the lightest weight. I had to return 2 other set of other brands since they were heavier and smaller by 1/2″ to 1″. If you’re ordering get more than 1 set.

5 Stars Great organizers
Used these on a recent trip to Arizona, perfect for 5 days. Kept my suitcase organized, spent a lot less time digging in my bag and refolding clothes compared to my friends! Worth the money, looking forward to use these again soon!

5 Stars Great organizer
I now have three sets of these because I loved them so much after I bought the first set. They help keep me organized during travel. When I unpacked at my destination, I just took the cube out of my suitcase and put it in the dresser. Then throughout the week, if I need socks, I just pulled out my sock cube, if I needed a T-shirt, I pulled out my T-shirt cube, etc. No more digging around to find what I was looking for. I love them. They fit more in them than they look like they would.
