The intriguing country of Ireland has been a popular gay vacations since the days when Oscar Wilde called this nation home. Of course, during his time Ireland was not as welcoming and accepting of LGBT folks and many, including Wilde, were jailed or sent off to hard labor camps for what was then termed “indecency.” Sadly, up until 1861, death was considered an acceptable punishment for acts of sodomy, but today Ireland has moved well beyond these dark days and has recently bested the U.S. when it comes to LGBT rights by legalizing same-sex civil unions in 2009, after decriminalizing same-sex behaviors in 1993.

While these significant legal strides might not mean that every village – or even every larger city – is ready to fully embrace same-sex relationships, Ireland has become a rather welcoming country for the most part and is a wonderful choice for gay travel. Many larger cities, such as Galway, Dublin, Cork and Waterford, have active, visible communities, LGBT-owned and LGBT-friendly establishments, and enough attractions and activities to fill an entire trip; however, whether you travel to Ireland solo or with organized gay tours, you will not want to miss the beautiful Irish countryside or the quaint, small villages that are scattered about the landscape or overlooking awe-inspiring coastal cliffs.

For day tripper from Ibiza they just hang out on yachts just off the coast of Espalmador, and swim to shore if they are in need of some time on the beach.

There are mud baths on Espalmador in the middle of this beautiful island. It is a naturally occuring mud bath at the northern end of s’Alga beach down a track that takes you through typical Mediterranean scrubland until you reach a massive mud bath that is packed with young tourists during the summer months who have all come for one of nature’s beauty treatments.

This is something that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike and it is definitely worth heading up there.

In this article we are going to take a look at Formentera Island’s port of La Savina. There is plenty of hustle and bustle here during the summer months with people arriving from all over Europe. Since there is no airport on the island this is where everyone arrives and leaves from. Indeed walking around both of these lagoons is mandatory if you are interested in wildlife. You even get to see flamingos if you are lucky.

When you arrive at La Savina you will see that there is a tourist information office right there at the ferry terminal. The staff inside are very friendly and will be able to answer all your questions. Most tourists just want to know how to hire a bike and get to Es Trucadors, and the Tourist Office will be able to set you up. In fact it only takes 20 minutes of cycling along the coastline of Es Cavall d’en Borras in order to reach the best beaches on the island.

Finally, you should make sure that you visit the old concentration camp which held hundreds of prisoners of war during the Spanish Civil War. This is known as Es Campament, and to this day it has a strange atmosphere.
