Kindle 2 units are arriving all over the US, as Amazon not only keeps to their delivery schedule but, in some cases, beats it to the punch. Kindle 2 Keyboard: I think the Kindle 2 keyboard is a massive improvement over the original Kindle (not that I owned the original Kindle), but I find that its not very user friendly, at least not for me. Kindle 2 is very slim and Apple-esque.

Kindle has shown that people are more willing than analysts think to read on devices other than books, and I think Kindle, and e paper in general, are going to be very popular. Kindle makes it easy to take your personal documents with you, eliminating the need to print. Kindle also includes free built-in access to the world’s most exhaustive and up-to-date encyclopedia–Wikipedia.

I did my shopping on the all the eBook readers and as of right now (March 2009), the Kindle 2 is clearly the winner. From reviews of the other eBook readers, the Kindle 2 is also the most “natural” feeling and intuitive to hold for long hours of reading. The next-generation e-book reader is lighter and thinner, has a longer battery life, and now includes text-to-speech capability, but for $359, is it worth upgrading from the original.

Reading content on the Kindle is comfortable and easy to do; I know that some people have claimed that it takes you out of the reading experience, but I found the opposite to be true. Reading the blogs and newspapers is quicker on the Kindle 2 even though I do not like the new navigation buttons. It took some getting used to at first as I too love reading paper books and magazines.

Like some other electronic paper products, the Kindle 2 uses “e-ink” technology, which serves to make the letters and words on the screen look more printlike in their appearance. A lot of people, when they first see the screen, are genuinely impressed. The 600-by-800-resolution screen is the same size, measuring 6 inches; but now, packing the latest E-Ink technology, it gives you 16 shades of gray versus the 4 shades available on the original Kindle.

Amazon pays for Kindles wireless connectivity so you wont see a monthly wireless bill. Especially with the wireless capability to get what I want on demand. With wireless off, it can go two weeks without recharging.

My Predictions/Wishes:Kindle as a standard for newspaper/magazine delivery: I think Amazon will either buy a newspaper or a big Newspaper publisher will invest heavily in Kindle or their own ebook readers. I buy all my books on amazon anyways so the kindle 2 is a logical method of ebook delivery. I was able to check my Yahoo email, Twitter and Facebook easily.

Amazon Kindle 2 is the hot new e-book reader for those who have moved way past the paper back. The more portable power charger is another great added function, though the improved battery life for the Kindle 2 also allows it to last upto 4 days with wireless turned on and 2 weeks with the wireless powered off. The Kindle 2 reader is the perfect device for the person on the go.

In 2007 Amazon.com came out with an electronic reading device called Kindle. Up to that point very few of us had ever heard of ebook readers. Sony and some other companies had ebook readers on the market at the time but had not made much headway. Kindle however made a splash. But Amazon did not stop there. While other companies were wondering what was going on, Amazon came out with an improved version of their reader called the Kindle 2. Instantly this new Kindle model became an instant success. To top it all off, just seven months after the Kindle 2 unveiling, Amazon came out with yet another improved version, the Kindle DX.

There are hundreds of ebook readers out on the market today. Everyday there is a new portable reader coming out offering better options. However Amazon, with its two latest Kindle versions, is by far the leader. If you are researching the electronic book reader market and want to buy one, then the Kindle 2 or the Kindle DX are the ones to be checking out. But which is the right one for you?

The first major difference between the two is the size difference. The Kindle DX is much bigger than the Kindle 2 and for that matter bigger than many of the other available ebook readers on the market. In comparison to the Kindle 2, the Kindle DX measures 10.4″ in height, by 7.2″ in width and by .38″ in thickness. The reason for the increase in size was to accommodate the larger screen display. DX was designed for easier reading of magazines and newspapers, and in the near future, for displaying textbook content. The smaller Kindle 2, which measures 8″ by 5.3″ by .36,” was meant for the reading of smaller formatted books such as novels. However The Kindle 2 is much easier to handle and to carry. It can easily be stowed away in almost any size purse or carrying bag.

It is also worth mentioning that the Kindle DX comes with built in integrated PDF file support, while PDF files on the Kindle 2 have to be converted. This means you would have to go through Amazon support via email. Amazon charges a fee for file conversion.

The prices are somewhat on the steep end. There are cheaper models out there. But none have the look and feel of the Kindles, and at present none have the features of the Kindle DX. Prices have started to come down. Sony just brought out three new models cheaper than the Kindle 2. And as mentioned before their are new models coming out almost every week. The models may change and the options will only grow in number but the most important thing to remember is – what ebook reader is right for you.

With an 800×600 resolution e-ink screen and unlimited free Internet access, the Kindle 2 makes a compelling choice for anyone who enjoys reading.

In addition to the memory, Kindle 2 has an improved display that reads like real paper, with 16 shades of gray, for clear text and crisp images.
