Egypt Jordan Tours • Explore the Ancient Wonders of Both Africa and the Middle East

If you are planning a vacation to Egypt you you might want to consider adding at visit to Jordan – even if it is a single daytrip experience. This is because Jordan is home to several fascinating and world-famous attractions . Adding this trip to an itinerary also allows the tourist to enjoy a unique trip from Taba Heights into the port city of Aqaba in southern Jordan as well.

Is this a trip commonly taken? Many visitors who intend to remain in northern Egypt, those staying in the upper area of the Red Sea Riviera, or vacationers in the Sinai Peninsula will all try to include a visit to southern Jordan too. Most use the Taba Heights water route into Jordan, though there are some land crossings too. When entering Jordan through its only port, in Aqaba, travelers will be introduced to one of the most popular and heavily visited cities in the region as well.

A day in Aqaba is going to introduce the visitor to the ancient fort, sites related to the Ptolemaic Greeks, the ancient Romans, and even such historic characters as Lawrence of Arabia too.

From there most guests will head to an area known as Wadi Rum, which is just east of the city. Wadi Rum is commonly referred to as the Valley of the Moon and is the largest wadi, or canyon, in all of Jordan. It has been inhabited since prehistoric times and visitors can find Petroglyphs in many of the sandstone cliffs. Again, Lawrence of Arabia spent a great deal of time here too, and his famous “Seven Pillars of Wisdom” are always part of a journey.

At long last, almost all guests will then turn northwest towards the Petra area, one of Jordan’s most popular attractions. This site appears in numerous motion pictures and is fascinating due to its intricate buildings carved directly into the cliff faces. The famous Treasury is part of this site, as well as Siq and the Lost City. There is a very fine Archaeological Museum in the region too.

How long is a trip such as this? Many tourists will actually be able to leave the Cairo area in the early morning and take in the sites within a single day, though some luxury tour groups provide overnight accommodations for this tour too. Some tours include ferry rides, horseback riding options, and professional guides which all make the experience richer and even more valuable.

Bath may be less than 12 or 13 m away from Bristol but it is incredibly different in so many was. Bath is far more leisurely than its neighbour. With its elegant crescents, countless open spaces and Georgian buildings it is an amazingly popular take a short city break.

The city of Bath has been a place of importance for an incredibly long, long time. Because of the hot springs, the only hot springs in Britain, it was treated as a shrine by the local Celtic population. It wasn’t until the appearance of the Romans that, because of their technical expertise, the springs were fully developed. Right up until today the Roman Baths remain a popular Bath tourist attraction.

Bath was just a town until the 16 th century, In fifteen ninety Queen Elizabeth I granted the town a Royal Charter, having visited in fifteen seventy four. In the eighteenth century Bath became an extremely important spa resort where Beau Nash ruled the social scene and etiquette was primary.

It was during this time that Jane Austen, who lived in the cityfor some time, wrote Persuasion and Northanger Abbey, and where the artist Gainsborough first established himself as a landscape artist and portraitist. If you are interested you can can learn more about Jane Austen, Bath’s most famous resident, at the interesting Jane Austen Centre.

There is a multitude of tourist attractions in Bath including, the already mentioned Roman Baths, The Holburne Museum of Arts, Bath Abbey and The Royal Crescent. The Assembly Rooms is a must see Bath attraction and this is where you will discover the interesting Museum of Costume which displays a selection of modern and historical dress.

Many tourist choose to visit the city of Bath for a day however if you want to see the most it is far better to stay for at least 2 or 3 days and walk around leisurely exploring all the city has to offer.

If you are thinking about a short break in Bath it is important to know that although there are many Bath hotels and guest houses finding bed and breakfast in Bath can sometime be rather difficult. It is because of this that it is vitally important to book your accommodation at the earliest opportunity.

Finally I would like to wish that you have a thoroughly enjoyable vacation in the amazing Somerset city of Bath, England.

As we’re more and more compelled to reevaluate our journey arrangements, with the present outlook on global warming, flying to exotic areas of the world for a few weeks enjoying the sun is starting to turn into something which is looked down upon. Only a few hundred years ago holidays had been unheard of for the typical household and solely the incredibly rich could be able to afford to visit overseas and travel inside your own country proved somewhat troublesome, and therefore it was also pretty expensive. It was throughout this period that the first British seaside resorts began to flourish as those that might afford it might travel to enjoy the supposed helpful elements of the seawater. It was around the 1750s that a native physician extolled the virtues of the sea around the small fishing village of Brighton and, within the following article, I take a look at this, still well-liked, seaside resort in the south of England.

Within just a few decades Brighton became known to the Prince Regent (later King George IV) and, during 1780s he had parties by the ocean in his unimaginable summer season palace. It wasn’t too long before the settlement became a popular venue for the rich of London, the capital of England however round 1840, with the coming of the railways, the less wealthy could often afford journeys to the seaside and Brighton turned into an incredibly well-liked with Londoners in search of a quick break hectic lifestyle of the city.

At the moment the Prince Regent’s former summer palace, the Royal Pavilion, is still there and the incredible construction is considered one of Brighton’s most famous visitor attractions. After it was acquired by the town, in 1850, the construction was used as meeting rooms but you can now go to the Pavilion and wander across the splendid rooms. Other historical tourist attractions include; Charleston, Palmeira Mansions, Parham House and Gardens and the Edwardian Preston Manor which is stuffed with wonderful works of art, antiques, ornaments and various other objects you would anticipate finding in an upper class residence of the time.

Other attractions in Brighton to visit include the superb Sea Life Centre found on Marine Parade. Brighton also features an awesome selection of museums and art galleries including the Booth Museum of Natural History, Brighton Museum and Art Gallery, Grange Museum & Art Gallery plus the more specialised Old Police Cells Museum, Brighton Toy & Model Museum, Brighton Fishing Museum and lastly George Street Gallery and Hove Museum & Art Gallery.

Other than the common seaside visitor attractions, such as, Brighton Palace Pier, side stalls, funfairs, arcades and similar, Brighton has an amazing variety of bars, pubs, restaurants and cafes which makes Brighton a superb venue for a night out. You can be certain to find a place to stay which is perfect for you because the choice available of Brighton hotels is vast with plenty of 5 star accommodation and a wide choice of discount bed and breakfast in Brighton to choose from.

For an amazing vacation get-away focused on the beauty of the land , world famous spa treatments, and an exhibition of a rich history take a look at Sweden as a land of destination . Located in the northern part of the European continent, Sweden’s storied history is the stuff that legends are made of. Summer, winter, spring, or fall there is something special in the ancient Viking native land from museums, to Nordic skiing, to sightseeing the amazing natural wonders of this northern country to make any trip special.

Everyone has heard about the fjords in nearby Norway, don’t overlook Sweden’s Western Archipelago with its seascape of 8,000 islands, outcroppings, and the like. This is a wondrous place for water enthusiasts to explore and for tourists to enjoy. See it by ferry or explore by kayak or diving.

Of course, who can forget the amazing nighttime light displays in the skies provided by the northern lights. To give yourself the best chance of acquiring a truly wonderful show, plan your itinerary to extend into the northern reaches of the country, although on any given night any part of the country might be in for a delightful show. Likewise, how many other places in the world can offer days as long and magnificent as a Swedish summertime? It is an experience not to be missed .

Tour the Kingdom of Crystal in the forests of south eastern Sweden and watch the artisans create glass masterpieces before your eyes. Anchored by the world famous Kosta Boda crystal factory the area is literally littered with glass-work factories where skilled artisans practice a craft that has been continually perfected over the course of the past several hundred years.

No visit to sweden is complete without a trip to the Vasa museum in Stockholm where you can see the ornate, handcrafted ship, the Vasa, which was built and then immediately sank in 1628. It stayed at the bottom of the sea until 1961 when engineers and seamen worked together to raise this top heavy, though beautiful ship. What an unique opportunity to see a slice of the life of the ancient Viking peoples.

Of course, Stockholm itself is a sight to see itself that could occupy weeks or months to uncover all it has to offer. Built on a series of fourteen islands, Stockholm is unique among national capitals. See the Royal Palaces. Watch the changing of the guard during the summer months. Tour the city by boat. There is so much to do and see in a vacation to Sweden.

Buy wedding favors, message in a bottle invitations for your special event, and even unique airplane themed luggage tags to help you keep track of your luggage on your trip to Sweden.

The unbroken ribbon of magnificent golden beaches is, and always will be, the most important attraction that entices holiday makers to Australia’s famous Gold Coast. The beaches are the jewel in the Gold Coast tourism crown. Without them, there would not be a Gold Coast.

While fun parks change with the newest technology, and entertainment comes and goes with each passing fad, the 42kms of pristine ocean front , golden sands, rolling ocean swells, secluded bays and estuaries , bather amenities and surf life savers… these all reinforce why the Gold Coast remains Australia’s most popular family destination.

Surfing is a popular pastime for both young and old and the breaks at Burleigh Point, Duranbah, Kirra and South Stradbroke are just four of the great locations providing top surfing conditions. The Gold Coast hosts international surfing championships such as the Billabong Pro. Kurrawa Beach at Broadbeach has been the site of the national surf lifesaving titles.

The Gold Coast City Council patrols more beaches than any other local authority in Australia and is renowned for its beach safety initiatives. It utilises helicopters, boats, jet skis and watercraft in its rescue operations.

Coolangatta – Kirra – Greenmount

These beaches provide an alternative to the sweeping expanse of shoreline found elsewhere. This part of the Gold Coast offers some of the prettiest beaches, with secluded bays and headlands. Kirra has a reputation as one of the Gold Coast’s most popular surfing beaches, with long off-shore breaks for the skilled board riders and smaller inshore waves for swimmers and body surfing . The Greenmount headland provides protection from the rolling ocean swells and create a protected beach area that is perfect for children.

Rainbow Bay, a fabulous little spot and a great favourite for family groups is just around the headland from Greenmount. Duranbah is just around the next corner and is one of the Gold Coast’s most popular surfing spots.

This region lies on the border that separates Queensland and New South Wales and is the southernmost end of the Gold Coast. Urban sprawl has resulted in Coolangatta and neighbouring Tweed Heads merging into one urban area, yet remaining twin towns.

Palm Beach – Currumbin – Tallebudgera

Tallebudgera Creek and Currumbin Creek both have calm, shallow water estuary conditions that are perfect for small children . Yet just short distance away around the corner are some of the Gold Coast’s best surfing beaches . There are some great Gold Coast panoramic views from this region. The local Surf Lifesaving Clubs are popular for meals and the Currumbin RSL Club is a popular venue for a night out.

The Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the most popular natural attractions on the Gold Coast. A highlight of the reserve is the twice daily feeding of the rainbow lorrikeets which come swooping out of the surrounding bush at feeding times. This attraction has grown from a simple bird sanctuary to a major wildlife reserve with various Australiana tourist attractions.

Burleigh Heads

Located midway between Southport to the north and Coolangatta in the south, Burleigh Heads is a popular choice for family holidays. It is less built-up than some other Gold Coast areas yet it lies within easy reach of the the more relaxed family atmosphere of the southern beaches and the lively nightlife to the north.

A small, unspoilt headland is home to a small National Park and koala park and provides excellent views of the surrounding coastline. Within the National Park there are a number of walking trails along the adjacent coastline. Just west of Burleigh are the popular attractions of Fleays Wildlife Park and Fauna Centre. The beaches at Burleigh are lined with beautiful parklands with picnic and BBQ areas. Burleigh Heads is one of the premier surfing locations and regularly hosts surfing and iron-man competitions.

Broadbeach

Broadbeach is just a few klms south of Surfers Paradise and is one of the most popular destinations for holiday makers on the Gold Coast . Broadbeach has patrolled surf beaches, with the popular Kurrawa Beach adjacent the traffic free Broadbeach Mall with more than 40 restaurants, coffee shops and bistros.

Resorts, apartment buildings and shopping centres dot the Broadbeach skyline. Broadbeach accommodation is rated amongst the best that the Gold Coast has to offer. Jupiters casino offers an island oasis of 24-hour casino action, restaurants, bars and a seasonal floorshow. The casino and the nearby shopping and dining precincts are linked via an elevated monorail.

Pacific Fair is Queensland’s largest shopping centre and is located in Broadbeach. It’s easy to spend a day wandering through the cobbled streets, dazzling arcades and department stores.

Surfers Paradise – Main Beach

Surfers Paradise is generally acknowledged as being the heart of the Gold Coast and symbolizes the Gold Coast lifestyle with the busiest stretch of beach and beach activities. Nightlife, nightclubs, bars and more restaurants per square kilometre than anywhere else in Australia… that’s Surfers Paradise. Street buskers, calypso bands and magicians entertain the passing hordes in Cavill Mall.

The kids will find plenty of fun with the games and rides in the Paradise Centre and major shopping centres and boutique retail outlets provide plenty of retail therapy for the grown ups. The Surfers Paradise holiday accommodation is world class with resorts and apartments to suit every taste and all budgets.

The popular beach walk to cosmopolitan Main Beach via Narrowneck is an excellent way to appreciate the immense size of the Gold Coast beaches. Head for Tedder Avenue with its mix of side walk cafes and dining precinct.

Southport – Broadwater Area

Southport is adjacent the Gold Coast Broadwater, a popular Gold Coast destination for all watersports enthusiasts. Sea World marine park is located at Southport and has dolphin, shark and sea lion shows, resident Polar bears, thrill-a minute ski shows , the exhilarating Bermuda Triangle ride and lots more.

Marina Mirage is where visitors will find waterfront restaurants, stylish boutiques and cafes. The superb marina berths a mixof luxury cruisers, houseboats, fishing trawlers and yachts.

Windsurfing, jet-skiing and parasailing are all very popular and equipment rentals are available for visitors. The Broadwater has berthing facilities for cruises and off shore charters for a day of game fishing. Bungee Downunder caters to the adrenalin rush junkies who can dive off a platform suspended high above the water.

Southport is the Gold Coast’s northern business centre and still has many of the administrative offices of local government. Modern department stores, cinemas, restaurants and a host of retail outlets are available in the area.

COUNTRY DESCRIPTION: The country is a developed and stable democracy. Monaco is a developed constitutional monarchy.

Passport and/or Visa Requirements: A passport is necessary for entry to Monaco and France. A visa is not necessary for a tourist/business stay up to 90 days in Monaco, France, Andorra, and Corsica, and for a month’s visit in French Polynesia. For additional information on entry requirements for France, travelers may contact the Embassy of France at 4101 Reservoir Road, NW Washington, DC 20007, or call them by dialing (202) 944-6000, or the French Consulate General in Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York, or San Francisco. Additional information on entry requirements to Monaco, visitors may contact the Consulate General of Monaco at 565 – 5th Avenue, New York, NY 10017, Tel: (212) 759-5227. The web portal of the French Embassy in the US is: http://www.france-consulat.org.

France Holidays: France has a number of legal holiday that it observes throughout the year. As you are planning your trip, look for a world holiday calendar that will help you organize your trip before you go. ConocoPhillips gives away promotional calendars that are a great tool when making a trip around the world. The ConocoPhillips world holiday calendar has all the holidays around the world and it is a free gift to customers. If your business buys promotional calendars, then consider trying somethingnew and dissimilar for advertising to your client base. Because religious affiliations of people in Francevary, it observes many Christian, Muslim, and non-religious holidays, but it also celebrates several other legal events that you need to find out. Buy a world holiday calendar and you will know those holidays before you go traveling.

SAFETY/SECURITY: Violent civil disorder is relatively rare in the country. From time to time, however, demonstrations led by students, protests organized by labor groups, or other routine demonstrations end up into violent confrontations between demonstrators and police. For this reason, US citizens are informed to avoid street demonstrations.

In recent years, France has been the scene of closely targeted random bombings and political killings. No U.S. citizens have been killed and only one has been injured. These incidents have resulted in an increased police presence at places where people congregates. All people on trains and subways are advised to be vigilant of their surroundings and inform any unattended packages to the nearest authority.

The National Front for the Liberation of Corsica (FLNC) and the Basque Separatis party (ETA) continue to operate in the Southern France and occasionally attack local government institutions, banks, travel agencies, etc.

Travel Warnings, Advisories and Areas of Instability: Monaco and France both have relatively low rates of violent crime. Crimes involving larceny have, however, increased. Theft of unattended baggage, pickpocketing, and theft from rental cars or vehicles with non-local license plates occur quite frequently. Criminals frequent tourist attractions such as museums, monuments, restaurants, trains, hotels, beaches, airports, subways, and train stations. Americans in France and Monaco should be particularly vigilant to thief in train stations and subways. In general, travelers should carry limited credit cards, cash, passport, and personal documents at home.

While thieves may be present anywhere, the U.S. Embassy in Paris receives frequent complaints of stealing from several particular areas.

Paris:

- Band of criminals operate on the rail link from Charles de Gaulle Airport to downtown Paris by victimizing on jet-lagged, unsuspecting travelers Sometimes one thief distracts the traveler with a question about directions while an accomplice takes a momentarily unguarded backpack, briefcase, or purse. Thieves also frequently time their thefts to coincide with train stops so that they may quickly exit the vehicle.

- The Number One Subway line, which runs by many major tourist attractions (The Grand Arch at La Defense, Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysees, Concorde, Louvre, Bastille), is the site of many thefts.

- Many stealing occur at the major department stores (Galleries Lafeyette, Printemps, Samarataine) where travelers usually leave wallets, passports, and credit cards on counters of cashiers during payment.

Southern France:

-Thefts from cars stopped at red lights are commonly reported, particularly in the Nice-Antibes-Cannes area, and in Montpelier and Marseille. The thief is usually a passenger on a motorcycle. Similar happenings have also occurred at tollbooths. Drivers should keep the following items from being seen in public as much as possible: bags, purse, luggage, and other articles that may attract thieves. Car doors should be locked always during travel and keeping the windows closed as well or left only slightly ajar.

- Criminals often target cars with foreign or CD (Diplomatic Corps) license plates, or rental cars, which are easily identified as such by a license plate number ending in “51.” Rental car companies are in the process of phasing out these plate numbers but this may take quite some time.

- Snatching of purse by motorcycle riders is also a commonplace occurrence. Over the shoulder bags should be worn when out walking.

The loss or theft abroad of a U.S. passport should be reported immediately to the local police and the nearest consulate or US embassy.

U.S. citizens can refer to the Department of State’s brochure entitled “A Safe Trip Abroad” for ways to promote a more trouble-free trip. The pamphlet is can be obtained by mail from the Superintendent of Documents, U.S. Government Printing Office, Washington, D.C. 20402, or through the web by visiting the following website address http://www.access.gpo.gov/su_docs, or through the Bureau of Consular Affairs home page at http://travel.state.gov.

CRIMINAL PENALTIES: While abroad, a U.S. citizen is subject to that country’s regulations and laws which sometimes vary significantly from those in the United States and may not afford the protection accessible to the individual under U.S. law. Punishments for breaking the law can be more harsh than in the United States for the same offenses. Persons breaking the laws of France or Monaco, even unknowingly, may be expelled, arrested or imprisoned. Penalties for possession, use, or trafficking in illegal drugs in France or Monaco are strict and those who are guilty can expect jail sentences and settle monetary fines.

DUAL NATIONALITY: U.S. citizens who are deemed to have gotten French citizenship may need to serve obligatory military service and other aspects of French law while in the country. Citizens who are caught up in this situation can inquire at a consulate or French Embassy about their status. In some cases dual nationality may hamper U.S. Government efforts to give protection abroad. For more information, visit the Consular Affairs homepage at http://travel.state.gov for our Dual Nationality Flyer.

MEDICAL FACILITIES: Medical care similar to that existing in the United States is widely available.
